One of the main topics of the meeting was the setting of doctoral income at science faculties, including adjustments for cooperating institutions. The deans also discussed publishing in open access journals, focusing on both its benefits for the scientific community and the risks associated with publication costs and the quality of some journals.
The meeting also addressed the risks connected with the State Treasury system and its impact on the financial stability of universities. Further topics included the decreasing support from European funds, which could lead to poorer instrumental equipment and deepen the lack of institutional funding from the state.
At the end of the meeting, Vladimír Krylov, Ph.D., who works at the Faculty of Science of Charles University, was elected chairman of the Association of Deans of Science Faculties.
